Covid-19 MakerVsVirus FaceShield in Franken

Am Ostersonntag wurde ich auf die inspirierenden Aktionen zweier meiner Firmenkollegen hier bei gofundme aufmerksam:
Ricky El-Qasem - Northwest PPE Project
Chris Byrne - Berkshire Covid 19 PPE Face Visor Project
Als ich dann auch noch in der lokalen Zeitung den Artikel Mit dem 3D Drucker gegen Corona So kann geholfen werden las, stand mein Entschluss fest: auch ich will helfen und Gesichtsschilde für den Bedarf in Nürnberg und Umgebung herstellen!
Ich konnte alsbald Kontakt mit dem in diesem Artikel erwähnten Netzwerk MakerVsVirus aufnehmen und mich zur Mitarbeit im Hub für Franken anmelden:
In der Maker-Szene läuft mit 3D-Druckern, Lasercuttern und viel gemeinnützigem Engagement eine dezentrale Fertigung von Teilen für Nachfragen aus Kliniken, Pflegeheimen und Arztpraxen an.
Unter dem Slogan #MakerVsVirus haben sich innerhalb von zwei Wochen 6.000 Freiwillige zusammengetan. Die Initiative schätzt ihre mögliche Produktionskapazität auf über 10.000 Faceshields (Gesichtsschilde) deutschlandweit täglich. Unterstützer für Produktion, Organisation, Material- und Geldspenden werden dringend benötigt!
Noch am Abend des Ostersonntags bestellte ich kurzentschlossen einen 3D-Drucker samt Zubehör und erstem Filament im Gesamtwert von 410 EUR.
Die Lieferung wird in den nächsten Tagen bei mir eintreffen und die Produktion der Gesichtsschilde kann starten!
Das Verbrauchsmaterial, das ich mit Hilfe der eingehenden Spenden bei gofundme finanzieren möchte, besteht aus:
- PLA Filament 1,75mm, das ich bei Amazon, eBay und anderen Versendern beschaffe
- A4 Overhead Folien
- Optionale Gummizüge, ungefähr so dick wie ein Schnürsenkel
Alle überschüssigen Spenden, die über das hinausgehen, was ich verarbeiten kann, werden verwendet, um das 3D-Drucken zu optimieren und das Netzwerk MakerVsVirus zu unterstützen.

On Easter Sunday I became aware of the inspiring actions of two of my company colleagues here at gofundme:
Ricky El-Qasem - Northwest PPE Project
Chris Byrne - Berkshire Covid 19 PPE Face Visor Project
When I then read the article With the 3D printer against Corona How to help in the local newspaper, my decision was clear: I too want to help and 3D print face shields for the needs in Nuremberg (Germany) and the surrounding area!
I was soon able to contact the MakerVsVirus network mentioned in this article and register to work in the hub for the Franconia region where Nuremberg is located: In the maker scene, 3D printers, laser cutters and a lot of charitable activities are used to start decentralised production of parts for inquiries from clinics, nursing homes and medical practices.
Under the slogan #MakerVsVirus, 6,000 volunteers got together within two weeks. The initiative estimates its possible production capacity at over 10,000 faceshields across Germany every day. Supporters for production, organisation, material and money donations are urgently needed!
Easter Sunday evening, I spontaneously ordered a 3D printer with accessories and first filament with a total value of EUR 410.
The delivery will arrive in the next few days and the production of the face shields can start!
The consumables that I would like to finance with the help of the incoming donations via gofundme consist of:
- PLA filament 1.75mm, which I procure from Amazon, eBay and other providers
- A4 overhead transparencies
- Optional elastic bands, about as thick as a shoelace
Any excess donations beyond what I can process will be used to optimise 3D printing and support the MakerVsVirus network.
