Cub Scout Pack 624, in Arlington, Virginia, desperately needs a new Pinewood Derby Track for our annual Pinewood Derby competition in January 2017 and for many years into the future as well.
Please help us achieve our fundraising goal of $3,500 so that we can purchase a new Pinewood Derby track by December 15, 2016.
To date, we have raised about $500 from our BelieveKids holiday fundraiser, but that means we still need to raise another $3,000 to meet our goals.

Our old Pinewood Derby track is just that... Very old... almost 50 years old! Some of our kids' grandfathers raced on this track when they were Cub Scouts.
This is our old Pinewood Derby track...
The old track is warped, bumpy and broken. Pinewood Derby cars routinely fall apart during our Pack competitions due to the rough rides that they have to endure.
In short, we need a new Pinewood Derby track for Pack 624 in order to host our annual Pinewood Derby competitions.
Our goal is to invest in a brand new, state-of-the-art Pinewood Derby track that can last for another 50 years and benefit many hundreds of kids in the future.
This is will be our new Pinewood Derby track...
The new Pinewood Derby track will include an Automatic Timing System enabling us to accurately record race results across dozens of race heats over the course of a race competition.
In past years, our race cars would simply slam into a padded barrier at the completion of the race, and often, the kids' race cars would be damaged.
The new Pinewood Derby track will include a Stop System enabling us to stop the race cars without damaging the kids' cars.
The new Pinewood Derby track will include a Lift/Leveling Kit that will elevate our track about 18" off of the floor allowing better viewing of the race from all angles. It will also enable us to ensure that the track is perfectly level and/ fair for all participants.
Unfortunately, race cars are often damaged or become misaligned when improperly handled by race officials during transport to the starting gate. It happens every year.
The new Pinewood Derby track will include a Car Carrier enabling race officials to safely transport the fragile Pinewood Derby cars to the starting gate without causing damage to the kids' cars.
If we meet our full fundraising goal, we will also be able to include a Drag Racing Light Tree to give our Pinewood Derby Races the realism of a real drag race. Not necessary, but very cool. The kids will love it, and generating enthusiasm for these Pinewood Derby races is really important. When the kids are excited about the races, they get excited about learning the physics and craftsmanship involved with race cars.
