Feet For Brains-Running to Fight Alzheimer's
FEET FOR BRAINS is a FEAT FOR BRAINS!

Facebook: Feet for Brains
THE DEAL: For every dollar you donate to the Cure Alzheimer's Fund/Alzheimer's Disease Research Foundation , I'll run one mile.
THE GOAL: $2000 and 2000 Miles by April 17th, 2023, when I run the Boston Marathon.
THE INSPIRATION: My Dad, Dan. He was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2018 and has been fighting the good fight ever since. From the start, he's faced this situation with courage, humor, and optimism and though this disease makes each new day more difficult than the last, he just keeps going forward, step by step; he's unstoppable!
THE BENEFICIARY: I'm raising money for the Cure Alzheimer's Fund/Alzheimer's Disease Research Foundation whose mission is to support research with the highest probability of slowing, stopping or reversing Alzheimer's Disease. All they do is fund research and 100% of every donation goes towards this mission. Your donation won't be used to buy office furniture or bagels for the accounting department. They have the highest possible ratings from the most respected non-profit oversight organizations. See for yourself Here.
THE DONATION: Whatever you care to give; and please note that your donation is tax-deductible. Even five dollars will help advance Alzheimer's research. Please don't think you have to donate extravagant amounts. Little by little, we'll get down the road. And if you can't donate at the moment, please consider sharing this campaign on social media. Both fiscal and moral support are warmly welcomed.
THE REWARD: Besides the satisfaction of helping to fight Alzheimer's, you'll get a shoutout on the Feet For Brains Instagram and Facebook every time I run miles that you sponsored. It's my way of saying Thank You and letting others know about the nice thing you did by donating.
THE RUNNER: Me, Patrick Toon, a runner based in Queens, New York City. I've raced distances from one to fifty miles in deserts, swamps, mountains, forests, and even the stairwells of the Empire State Building. In November, I'll run the New York City Marathon, and next year, Boston. Running is my escape, my freedom, my joy, my fun, my adventure. For the next few months, it's going to be my celebration of my Dad, too.
THE LATEST: I'll be posting updates on this page, but please join us on Facebook and Instagram @feet_for_brains.
THE ENEMY: Alzheimer's Disease, a degenerative neurological disease that causes ever-worsening dementia. It robs its victims of their memories, independence, mobility, speech, and ultimately their personhood. Despite recent advances, there is currently no cure. Alzheimer's also places an enormous strain on loved ones who step in as care-givers, people like Dan's wife Beverly who's doing an incredible job of keeping Dan safe, healthy, and most importantly, happy.
THE PROMISE: To run a mile for every dollar donated to this campaign. It's going to be tough; it usually takes me a year to run 1000 miles, let alone twice that. But with your support and Dan's example of fortitude, I'm going to give it my best shot, just like Dan does with every challenge that's thrown his way. This fundraiser is in honor of him.
THE GRATITUDE: Is deep and genuine. There's so little I've been able to do that makes me feel like I'm really helping my Dad. This fundraiser is an active way to achieve something that will help people suffering from this awful, demeaning disease. Your support means everything, whether it's moral or fiscal. You're helping to end Alzheimer's. Thank you.
I'll see you at the finish line!
