Your continued support inspires me every day. I thank my lucky stars to be able to tackle this battle with so much love and the power of a team that is YOU!

With this challenge, there have also been blessings. One of them is having the opportunity to document and share my story in real time. This is a dream come true because if I can touch and inspire one life, then I know my disease is not in vain. If I can use this experience and the platform I was given to encourage and bring light to my fellow fighters, their loved ones and mine - through sharing, I feel a higher purpose to my days.

I will call it Eva’s Journey and thank you for joining me in making my dreams come THROUGH! All of the support we receive here will go toward the production and completion of this film I hope to share with the world. We've already filmed 16 days in the past 6 weeks and the show must go on!! We are hoping to keep filming in the months and year ahead as this journey continues. I love you to pieces my cast, my crew, my tribe!

To those that don’t know me:

I love you too! My heart is big enough for all of us. One thing I do on a daily basis in my new normal is google Stage 4 Breast Cancer survivors. I follow them and want to know how they are doing, how they are living and how they build a life in spite of their circumstance. There are not a ton of them out there but they do give me hope each and every day. I want to do the same- I want to rally for my community and share the love and gratitude every day. Thank you for supporting this effort - I would love to know each and every one of you one day, soon.

We are asking for support for the Huni Kuin people who have very little access to resources to begin with and rely greatly on tourism and the sales of handmade art crafts as a means of financially sustaining themselves. With the lockdown order issued by the governments in the cities as well as the villages, and no government support, a majority of the population is left without any means of generating income and are extremely vulnerable and at high risk of contagion with many elders and youth who make up a large number of the total population. The goal is to be able to provide food, hygienic materials (masks, soap, gloves), gasoline, and tools to help the families and villages through this very difficult time. 


Funds will be used as follows:

- Assisting residents in the cities and villages with compromised income due to COVID-19 quarantine to buy food, water, and supplies.

- To assist in relocating people, helping to transfer patients (plane tickets and gasoline for boats), soap, masks, and gloves, for if/when the virus reaches the villages.

- Strengthening the organization of FEPHAC as a centralized and representative entity for the Huni Kuin people in response to crises and social project initiatives throughout territories.

- Purchasing materials and tools to increase capacity of self-sustainability and food sovereignty.

Many Huni Kuin today live in between their villages and cities. Indigenous people are especially vulnerable to disease and illnesses that are brought by non-indigenous and traditional medicines are not effective treatments. 

The Huni Kuin way of life is by nature very communal and therefore would very easily facilitate the spreading of COVID-19 if/when it reaches the villages, where a high percentage of the population are elders and young children.

With no government support and no way of generating income we are asking for the global community to come together and help them during this challenging time. 

Funds will be initially withdrawn by BOA Foundation (Boa Foundation Website ), a nonprofit that is dedicated to forming alliances with indigenous communities to support in a diverse range of indigenous-led projects, and then sent to and be managed by FEPHAC (Huni Kuin Federation of the state Acre) where it will be distributed throughout the villages and communities.


WHO ARE THE HUNI KUIN?

The Huni Kui are an indigenous ethnicity present in the state of Acre, Brazil, and Peru, who fight to preserve their own culture, customs, values ​​and language. With a population of more than 12,000 people, its political organization in Brazil, in 2017, when the Constitution was created, consists of 94 Villages, 12 Indigenous Lands, of which 11 are demarcated, homologated and registered, and one in the process of identification; these territories are located in the municipalities of Marechal Thaumaturgo, Jordão, Tarauacá, Feijó and Santa Rosa.


WHO IS FEPHAC?

For fourteen years, The Huni Kui People's Federation of the State of Acre - FEPHAC-Nukun Huni Kuinen Beya Xarabu Tsumashun Ewawa, has been a civil non-profit organization that brings together the various Huni kui associations, organizations and communities in Brazil. In summary, Fephac is constituted and recognized as a representative institution of the Huni kui people in any matter of collective interest, and since it's founding, it has been acting to ensure and promote autonomy, with a strong role in the advocacy of cultural heritage and the search for cultural empowerment, and autonomy. Every year FEPHAC hosts the annual gathering for the Huni Kuin people, where political, cultural, and spiritual leaders, including women and youth leaders, come together to engage in discourse and exchange for the benefit of the people. There are thousands of refugee women and teens, mothers and daughters, along the CA/Mexico border seeking asylum in the US. They are caught in a massive humanitarian crisis that has no end in sight. They lack almost everything - food, clothes, permanent shelter and, of course, menstrual products.

The Flow wants to help these vulnerable women and girls maintain their dignity as they manage their cycles in incredibly difficult conditions. And we will do it by providing products that can be used again and again, offering a small bit of security. We will donate over 2000 menstrual cups (thank you so much Period.org and partners!) with appropriate bilingual education but we also need to have an alternative for the youngest girls and others who aren’t comfortable with insertion (i.e. cups, tampons etc.)


Help us bring reusable menstrual pads - and a small measure of security and dignity - to women and girls who need help the most.


Reusable pads make more sense than disposable pads because they are:

Convenient. Women and girls can keep with them during their difficult journey, and use them when/if they have nothing else.

Cleaner. Reusable pads create less waste in already crowded conditions with limited sanitation services.

Cost-effective. A $15 heavy-flow absorbency pad costs about the same as a 2-month supply of disposable pads* and can be used and reused for up to 10 years.


We are looking for partner organizations and volunteers to help with distribution so please reach out if interested! 
 

Our goal is $3,000 -  every dollar raised will be matched by a private donor!

$200 = 13 reusable pads

$100 = 6 reusable pads

$50 =  3 reusable pads

$30 = 2  reusable pads

$15 = 1  reusable pad

Why refugees? 

We are bringing reusable pads and cups to refugee women and girls along the CA/Mexico border because these women and girls have traveled thousands of miles to find sanctuary from violence in their home countries. They deserve access to their basic needs and to products that are convenient, cleaner and cost-effective.  



Why The Flow? 

The Flow wants all women and girls to have shame-free periods that are cheaper, safer, and greener. Our mission is to donate as many reusable products as possible to the people who need them most. We will provide education and instructional materials about how to use cups and reusable pads in English and Spanish for this project.
