Adi & Abir's Fundraiser for Razia's Ray of Hope
In 2022, we start on an incredible journey: I aim to complete a full Ironman event at Lake Placid in July, and Abir, my son, will tackle an Olympic distance triathlon one month later. While one of our goals is to push our physical limits, we also hope to raise money and awareness for a cause we deeply care about -- Razia's Ray of Hope Foundation.
In 2008, Razia Jan developed an ambitious plan to improve the lives of Afghan girls and women through community-based education in rural Deh’Subz. Since then, Razia's school has expanded and now, in addition to a full K-12 program, the school offers a 2-year midwifery certification program. In March, it will expand to include a teacher training program.
Given that new government regulations require female-only teachers for female students, training women as teachers is absolutely vital in continuing to provide educational opportunities to young girls in Afghanistan.
More information about Razia's Ray of Hope Foundation can be found here. And here is a video about the foundation's extraordinary accomplishments and goals.
I hope you will join me and Abir in our journey to completing our triathlon goals -- and, more importantly, in our efforts to raise awareness & funds for educating young girls and women in Afghanistan.
Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to Abir and me.
