HERE IS WHY WE DESPERATELY NEED THE MONEY:
We were contacted about 24 Miniature Schnauzers in Bieber California who needed to be rescued. We were told that the owner had died and that the woman who contacted us could no longer keep them because she was having health problems.
The dogs were 2 hours northeast of Redding, far away from any of our rescue group members, and we had nowhere to house so many dogs, so we enlisted the help of a rescue in Redding with which we have partnered before.
Three of their people drove to Bieber in 3 vans to bring dogs back. They were horrified at what they saw. There were almost 50 dogs there, many in deplorable condition. They wanted to take ALL of the dogs, but the woman who had contacted us would only surrender the ones who supposedly had belonged to her deceased friend. Those included at least 3 pregnant females. So, they brought 24 Schnauzers back to Redding. Fortunately, they have a facility to house that many dogs.
We sent 3 of our people up to Redding for 2 days to help groom the badly matted dogs.
We desperately need to raise money to get the 24 Schnauzers spayed and neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested, and any medical problems taken care of, before the dogs can be placed in new homes. That work is already in progress, but we need the money to pay the vets. The best estimate right now is that we’ll need about $275 a dog for those with no other problems. But 3 or 4 of the females are pregnant and one or more could need C-sections, and at least some of the dogs are likely to have additional medical problems, especially since their care was so poor. So we are guesstimating we’ll need about $8,000 for vet bills. And we will also have costs of food, gas to transport them, etc.
CMSR does NOT have the money. We’ve been operating on fumes for the last few months because we took in several dogs with broken legs, and seniors who needed dentals and other case, who have cost us a lot of money.
And that's why we are asking for help.
